What We Believe

The Bible

The Bible, which includes the Old and New Testaments, represents the eternal and immutable word of God, written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in one God who exists as three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—and that these three are one God with the same nature, attributes, and perfection and are worthy of the same love, trust, and obedience. W

We believe that the Holy Spirit reveals the redemptive work of Christ. Christ came to earth to glorify God and to condemn sin. Those who believe are encouraged to come to Christ, as He offers them new life and dwells within them. The Holy Spirit directs and strengthens them to live a holy life.

We believe that Jesus Christ is both fully man and fully God. He was born of the Virgin Mary through the Holy Spirit to take away the sins of humanity. He died on the cross at Calvary and rose gloriously from the dead. Now, He serves as our risen High Priest at the right hand of the Father in heaven.

Mankind was created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27), but due to sin became separated from God and His glory (Romans 3:23). Righteousness is obtained only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:7). Through Jesus, mankind is reconciled to God, the Son of God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). We believe that through faith in Him, one receives eternal life (John 3:16).

OUR STORY

Our church journey began humbly in the basement where our dear brother, Yared Mehari, used to live. It all started with a small Bible study and prayer group of four people, and over time, others began to join us. With the mandate of our founding pastor, Samson Kinfemichael, and his leadership, we made a strong commitment not to take members from other churches, which meant it took a while to build a core group of individuals who were unchurched.

In February 2008, we officially launched our church at the Calgary Rehabilitation Center with about 20 people. Since then, our congregation has grown slowly but steadily. Our church has also played a significant role in supporting the establishment of other Tigrinya-speaking churches in Western Canada, including those in Regina, Saskatoon, and Vancouver, British Columbia.
